Hawk eye engine management light
Can anyone please help me, I have 06 hawk eye wrx and before Christmas the head gasket went and since then every week something else goes wrong like the power steering pump, then the secondary air pump then had to renew the drop links. But when the secondary air pump went it gave me a engine code p2444, this was two weeks after the head gasket was fixed at the garage , so I tried to clear the code but it kept coming back. Then I replaced the secondary air pump and reset the engine management light and all was good for three days and now it has come back on (the engine management light) has anyone got any ideas how to fix the problem of the engine management light

You can permanently remove the secondary airpump as the car doesn't need it to operate. It is used to reduce/falsify emissions for cold starts by drawing freshair into the exhaust outlet. You willneed the ecu codes turning off by a mapper. Any Scooby specialist should be able to do itfor you. While it’s there, you shouldfit a second-hand Prodrive sports cat, and have it mapped to unleash some ofthe torque potential in that 2.5ltr lump.

Yes i know what it does, but didn't want to map it unless i had to because my car has done a hundred and forty five thousand miles now and worried the engine will go pop

If you're turning the fault codes off for teh secondary air system you need to be fitting the blanking plates to the back of the head. You can't leave it in a faulty condition with potentially stuck open solenoid valves.
I did this to mine years ago as the system is pointless. We also removed all the pipework from the heads to the valves. I still have the pump and the valves fitted, but they are unplugged and do nothing now.
Simple enough to resolve once and for good.
p.s. you don't need to re-map the ECU, you can ask the mapper to just turn the codes off and leave the map as it is if you want? BUT it will probably still cost you the same as mapping the car. If you have the car mapped you will ensure that it is running right and in theory protect the engine more than the standard subaru map. I'm not talking about squeeziung every last drop of life out of it with a map, just map it so all the sensors and systems are mapped together and working better.
Plus get more power & torque!

If you changed the pump , chances are 1 or both solenoid valves are blocked or stuck ( this happens over time due to water ingress through moisture ... You can try cleaning them out ( it's a long shot but might work , take your top mount intercooler off & you will see the valves , un plug them , get all that crud & crystalisation out - cost you nothing to try / failing that do as above ^

There is no point trying to work out which part of the system the codes are pointing to IMO. I (and others) have failed. The codes don't always point to the effected part with the secondary air system. You could spend a lot of time and money chasing the fault around to temporarily fix it before the next bit gives up. Far easier and more cost effective to get it blanked off and codes turned off.
