Default Engine noise?

Hi guys just been out to to my car to put a bit back in the battery as its only used weekends. Once warmed up fully i revved/ blipped throttle in neutral upto 3k rpm and could notice a faint whine what was there revving up and revving down. Car is a blobeye sti.2003 had diff ,gearbox, engine oil done just before xmas but cant see that having anything to do with it. Any info greatly appreciated.

It's hard to understand what you're saying to be fair, put a bit back in the battery?
Could be LOADS of things making a noise,fan/aux belts, alternator,ac pump, bearings, trapped mouse?
Post a link with a video of the noise.

Or sorry i meant put a bit back in the battery as run the car with lights and heater to charge battery.
But when id finished that with everything off inc heaters lights stereo, and with window down when i rev i can hear whining which sounds from the engine. Just wondering what some of the possible things could be. Like air leak or loose belt, tensioners. Or do standard sti engines have slight whines when revved.

Take it for a blast see if the noise clears up or gets worse.
