Default Subaru Impreza 96-05 5 Speed ICP Gear Linkage Rebuild Repair Kit

My Impreza Type R 1999 is suffering from a floppy/sloppy gear stick. I can see by looking on here and other forums that this is down to either one or all of bushes worn or the spring that sits in the linkage on the underside of the car which has already been replaced but I still have the issue.

I have found the following linkage rebuild kit supplied by ICP (Import Car Parts) http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/part...y=&searchPart= that will hopefully solve the problem . Has anyone had any experience of having used this kit and can say that it is decent quality?

I did this to my Classic last year and it made a massive difference, the selector is like brand new now. I did use some uprated bushings in the selector linkage, Sti and Perrin but the UJ and the small gear stick bushings were oe.

or you could get us to uprate the UJ (cant be done easily as std due to the rivet type assembly)

Is this something that you can do on the basis of removing the necessary parts myself and sending them off for refurb or would it be something that you would need the car to remove and up rate the UJ then refit? If it is the latter you are a bit far away from me to warrant a trip up to get it sorted as I am down in South Wales.

we do them on an exchange basis normally depending on exactly which linkage set-up you have, the 6spd ones we simply supply bush kits

I have a 5 speed. What costs would be involved in getting this sorted out? Also if was do to this would you be willing to send me the refurbished one first then I send mine back once the new one is fitted?

I've bought one off ebay looking to replace mine, is it worth trying the spring first?

no idea what age car you have but the spring is only used on TY752 boxes, not required on TY754's
