Default Type R top gear

I've got my heart set on a 2 door Impreza and know that the gearbox has really short ratios in the type r. What sort of revs does a type r sit at on the motorway at 70-80mph. Is it a real pain to live with?

Yep pain in the a**e change it to a UK 5th gear simple job. Some people say it spoils the car but it doesn't take long to adjust to suit.

The Type-R was built for racing as quick from point A-B it was not designed to be a motorway cruiser. Remove things like gear ratios removes part of its Soul. If your looking to do allot of motorway miles and the car is to be your daily look at something else as all the gears are manic on them.

I won't be using it much on the motorway, it'll be an a and B road car. I was just wondering really as I've seen the top speed of the type r listed as anything from 120 to nearly 150 which would obviously mean a large difference in the revs at motorway cruising speed

Could well have been changed, the old bus is 18 years old now! Must check next time I'm at the car. It does go like **** off a shovel, goes through gears like a scrambler from a standing start.

my old uk would easily do 150mph+ and no way a ra or r box would do that.
