it's been a while since I posted on the forum.

My question relates to options to repair or replace a TD04 turbo.

Car is 98 turbo 2000.

the options as I see them are

Have the turbo rebuilt,
Buy a CHRA and swap it myself
Source a 2nd hand TD04 from the web.

each has plus points etc

Has anyone swapped the turbo core, if so did it last?

If your short on cash then buy 2nd one for 50 quid.
Rebuild can cost around 300 quid but you will have a new turbo that's gonna last.can also upgrade the rebuild but will cost more.
I haven't swopped the core although I thought about it.
For what it's worth if you get it wrong just send away for 300 quid rebuild.
I got my td04 rebuilt and a 16g billet wheel fitted but cost 550 depends what your cars worth and how much you want spend on it and turbo.

2nd hand for me.

 

I have a 30k mile td04 from my 2002 bug eye if any use. No play surplus due to upgrade. Make me an offer its just collecting dust in the garage

 

Source a 2nd hand TD04 from the web, theres plenty about. How you know your turbo's gone? I have the feeling mines on the way out aswell
