Default identifying engine?

I have what I believe to be a 2004 UK STi engine but not 100% sure, is there any way I can identify it either by the engine number or the engine code?

Thanks Ian.

P.S I have searched and can't really find a great deal.

If its a 2004 sti it should be a ej207 engine.it will say so on the plate.

Only codes I can find are EJ20 nothing else, this is stamped on the block below the alternator.
Thanks.

If it says ej20 only then it is a older style wrx engine as far as I know.
Does it have the red headers and sti tmic ?

Yep red inlet, no TGV's, avcs heads and it's fitted with a twin scroll sump.

The JDM blocks I've seen with twinscroll have a T20C on the casings, the UK ones S20C from memory.

I'm pretty sure mine has T20C stamped on the front under the timing belt cover.
However if it is a JDM I'm still confused as it only has the single AVCS.

It will be single avcs if it's a newage JDM motor, don't think the twin avcs came in until the 2.5 hatch, although I'm not sure if the later JDM cars come with twin avcs as well.

Thanks for all the help, will have another look to see if it says T20C or S20C.
Would be a nice bonus if it were a JDM engine

Is the white bar code sticker on the center timing cover, below and to the left of the front pulley?
That will give you the full engine designation.

Hi Merlin I think I do recall seeing a bar code, will have to check when I'm at the lockup.
Thanks.
