Hi all

Just a quick question...is there anything I can do to my 53 plate WRX to increase the turbo/induction noise?

Let me be crystal clear... I do not want to buy a BOV but looking for something similar without it being too in your face, is there anything that can be done?

Under the wing is a resonator unit that connects the intake pipe to the air box. You could get a pipe to allow you to remove this which would make more noise. I would not suggest leaving the airbox open going into the wing

What about blanking off the OEM recirc valve would this make any improvement in noise?

Probably do some damage to the turbo and cause fuelling problems during gear changes and at idle.

It would sound better BUT it would have a detrimental affect on the turbo. This is due to when you snap the throttle shut when on boost there is no where for the air to be released. This then causes the turbo to stop spinning very abruptly and will eventually cause it's demise. Rally cars do remove the DV but with their budget they can afford to replace the turbo as necessary.

As long as you are sticking with the OE MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor stick to the OE recirculating dump valve.

Yea understandable, do not want to be killing the turbo... so really the only real safe way of getting what I'm after is through an aftermarket BOV mapped to the car to compensate for air/fuel ratio

If your still running the standard td04 turbo ur be fine the td series turbos are strong units!! I've been running my td05 20g dv-less at 1.5bar for 3moths with no ill affects also the vf48 I had before for 6 months and the vf35 for about 15months!!

Also my pervious scoob(v4 type r) ran dv-less for 2 years (vf22) with no trouble at all.

As I understand it I don't think you could map for the fuel air ratio. As there would be no way of measuring how much air the DV would be letting out. I have a dual port DV as after swapping my ECU I now run a Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor.

Hi there

As above TD04 are pretty strong turbo,we are run TD04 without the DV several months without the single issue and you shouldn't have any issue there

Just speak with yours mapper about the tweaking the map for DVless,only issue can be with MAF,which can be adjusted by yours mapper
