Default Engine rebuild / new engine

Hello there , first time posting on the forum but with bad news as I have a big end failure on my 03 plate uk 300 sti , looking for some advice as to what my options are , do I have the option of a rebuild or would I be better looking for a new engine , if it's a new engine can I possibly gain in anyway by getting a possibly more powerful motor the would " fit " my broken 2.0 , I don't understand the talk about , short block , stroker , compression ratios or a lot of the talk I'm seeing else where .

I appreciate anyone reading and would be very great full for a reply , thankyou .

Easiest and cheapest option is to buy a full long engine from a breaker on here, this guy is 100% trust worthy and his parts are spot on

https://www.scoobynet.com/full-cars-...vf35-more.html

remember that your knackered can still fetch a few quid

Heads- £250

Block - £200

Do you understand bottom end and cylinder head, meaning a conventional engine as found in most cars?

Effectively, a short block/motor is the bottom end. Except it's in the middle of 2 cylinder heads. Long block/motor includes the cylinder heads.

Some people selling long engines will include inlet and exhaust manifolds, always best to check what you are getting though.

Hope that's of help.

Thanks very much for the replies , I understand now I'm a qualified mechanic but on heavy plant and never dealt with anything like this .
My scooby was recently on a dyno and put out 360 bhp .... Will these mods affect the changing of engines i.e will it need remapped after the change , thanks again .

Not if it's a like for like replacement, i would add the following items if buying a used engine

Modified oil pump
Full timing kit inc pulled
Water pump
front and rear oil seals
New oil and genuine black subaru oil filter
new ngkpfr7b plugs
Fresh coolant
Maybe a new thermostat
maybe full rocker gasket set
check clutch/flywheel condition when engine is out

If you are going to keep the car, get it rebuilt or at least a fresh short enigne. You never know what a second hand engine is like inside, spend cheap, spend twice...or more.
I can do you something for various budgets, drop me an email or give me a call
