I have an early EJ20 engine with yellow 550cc injectors, and Emerald ECU with full map from nothing etc, the turbo was a TD05H (Jap import one as per the engine) then I had the internals changed to 18g

Now, I have had no troubles with the bus / engine and love it but being only 4 speed I am finding the bus a bit laggy, nothing really happens until 3000+ RPM then as you could imagine all hell breaks loose.

If I was to change the turbo for something a bit more drivable what would I do ? would a ball bearing IHI VF34 with remap be better with the power coming in a bit earlier, or maybe go back to a stand turbo with remap and change the injectors back. I'm not looking for monster power (currently sitting around 290bhp and 0.9 bar boost)

Just a quick note - just about everything is custom on the car, intercooler (a bit bigger than std) exhaust, cooling system etc.
