Default smoke from up pipe

Hi peps
I really need some help
I have recently rebuilt my 00 turbo 2000.
I brought a second hand turbo
as mine had play in shaft.
when I run car up to temperature
the up pipe starts smokin really bad
no smoke out exhaust
is there any way turbo could leak oil down the up pipe.
I have checked for leaks there are none
turbo was off a 54 reg td04
So straight swap
any help before I take turbo off

could it be the rocker cover gasket dropping onto the manifold? smoke rises up by the uppipe... run ur finger when its cool around the rocker cover area and bolts to check for oil. its a common thingy.

Pretty nornal. The amount of smoke from headers/up-pipe can be alot after the turbo has been removed. The up pipe gets covered in coolant. Can take a while to burn off

If there are no leaks the only logical explanation would be that you are burning off oil/coolant that dripped down during your turbo change and as such it should burned soon.

When i wraped my headers and up pipe i went for a ride, trying to maintaing exhaust temperature and awoid stopping. How many miles you did after?.

Did you resolve this?
Got a very similar issue with Newage WRX. Changed the up pipe and headers replaced a set of standard headers and STI up pipe with newer ones due to rotten heat shields. Also changed front Lambda sensor.
Took the car out for a drive and smoking quite bad, I have tried everything to find a leak. It is not fluid burning off the car has been run for too long at both idle and various short runs to be that.
No signs of any leaks from any of the obvious places, rocker cover is bone dry, two half moons between rocker cover and head bone dry air separator take off on top of rocker cover also dry had a flexi mirror all round the area and can't see anything. Whith the car idling there are no issues take it for a run and it starts smoking really bizarre.

@Arch did you ever figure out what it was? Going through this now it’s been 3 months and I’ve replaced sooooo many things. My last hope was putting UV die in the oil and using my UV light. Still fail, even pulled the headers/up pipe all apart 3 times and makes no sense the oil looks like it’s coming out the up pipe which isn’t possible as it’s fresh UV died oil it smokes a lot only when you drive just as yours. I’m thinking as it’s only when it’s driven it’s wind pushing oil back from the front or something do to with oil pressure but even that isn’t making sense. I gave up and took it to a performance place near mine that tuned it originally 5 years ago, he has had the car for over 2 weeks and has been through all the same things as me. I pick it up Friday and I’m that fed up I’m considering selling it but I don’t want to, would love to know if you got to the bottom of it? @Arch

Check the coolant and oil return pipes under the turbo, both can drip onto the up pipe, also check for kinks/splits in the top oil feed as that can also cause what your seeing

Return hose replaced with 2 new worm drive hose clamps, coolant line copper washers replaced, oil feed copper washers replaced. All dry
I might as well mention, rocker cover gasket, coil gaskets and both rear cam seals (half moons) replaced with genuine Subi parts and recommended sealant, oil gallery plug on head re sealed, cam sensor replaced, had exh manifold/up pipe off, turbo dry, manifold dry. Replaced pcv even though rattled when shaken, pcv breather to rocker cover replaced, but of oil in intake manifold but not a worrying amount, intake piping and intercooler dry.
