Default Classic 99 UK turbo 2000 update

Right guys,

After getting the car home and having a good look at it i can safely say i am very pleased with the car.

Its sat for around 1.5 years and has the usual rust but as a whole the cars immaculate.

69k on the clock, body work has the odd mark roof and wing mirrors need painting with sun etc but thats it. Rust wise the outer sills need replacing in er sills seem sound and the rear inner arches and boot is in amazing condition for age of the car and the time it stood.

At the minute the cars on axle stands striped the brakes down freed the 4 pots off, after a set of single or two pot callipers for the rear then its pads and discs all round. Pretty lucky has braided goodridge hoses on already and they are in good condition too so thats a bonus.

When i got it home dropped the oil and replaced the oil and put a new filter on gave the battery a chArge and it turned over first turn of the key no issues at all.

Interior wise same as the exterior in brilliant condition.

Next stop is needs a new radiator/full service/tax/test/sills repaired. I have also took the bottoms arms off and looking into replacing most of the bushes as they perished so its looking like its going to be poly bushed alot sooner than i thought.

I am going to keep a log with photos so when i get time i will get them all up.

Been some brilliant help/advice from people on here so would like to thank you all.

Sounds good.
What colour?

Get some pics up, (you need to get them hosted on the net, eg: Photobucket).

Above all.......ask twice, mod once. They are NOT forgiving of less mods.

It's dark blue full uk car. I am going to sort some pics now on photo bucket and I will post a link.

Thinking of dropping subframe out having it shot blasted with a few other bits and put back in but poly bushed like front end.

Rear subframe, Dan?

There's essentially 2 parts to it. The subframe and the diff carrier.

Not the best pic, and I'm not selling them.

Any idea of anyone else haha i don't like the thought of spending that sort of money on bushes but if needs be then thats whats needs to happens. Saying that all in that was for 30 different bushes.

Bushes are very very dear. But worth it! Some are a complete bitch to get out tho! Like burn them out with a torch tough!

Here is a rear subframe I just rescued. About 2 hours and a can or propane, a hammer and a hacksaw to get the bushes out. £50 to have it shot blasted to bear metal and powder coated. Looks brand new!

Don't skimp and use cheap bushes as they fail quickly and amazingly!

Use new nuts and bolts and make sure to copper slip them so they don't rust.

Don't go cheap and paint the subframe as it will come off pretty quickly.

Give Alyn at AS Performance a ring, and see what he can do on pricing.

I don't know who did the powder coating, I got given them free.
