Hi just put another wrx engine in a 2002bug when firing it up the car was shaking quite hard and the engine light started to flash put new plugs in it when swapping engines any idear what it could be the ecu was mapped just before the first engine gave out also have a build invoice that says it had a Sti semi closed short motor put in a while back which I didn't no till tonight I have put a 2002 wrx engine in there could this be te problem?

could it be engine mounts? at first sounded like a plug. idle ok? if to low it will cough and splutter ~ mapping.

It idles a bit low and pops with a smell of over fuellin, the codes where maf and intake sensor of I remember rightly

Plugs are less than 1000miles old

Mate had this exact thing on his bug and after chasing things around for a while swapping parts out it turned out to be stretched valve causing the missfire

Possible I brought the engine off a breaker who said it was running fine before removing it it's got a 3 month warranty so worst case I'd take it back just want to try a few thugs before going that root though about reseting the ecu to get rid of the map that's on it for the old engine?

check if one of the connectors on a coil pack hasnt come loose.

I had the same thing a few months ago, engine shaking, flashing cel, exhaust burble changed aswell.
