Best place for an engine rebuild in the east midland
Hi
I just wondered who you guys would recommend to use for an engine rebuild in the East Midlands. I have heard good things about Api and zen Motorsport.
Who would you recommend and why.
Thanks
Shaun

In my opinion if your planning on staying standard I would use either Cylinder Rebores @ Nuneaton or Wellam Motors Leicester. They are fantastic engine rebuilders with all the equipment to machine any part of the engine.
I have used both in the past. Generally charge £250-300 to strip and engine and rebuild it plus any parts or engineering required! Bearing in mind this option cuts out the middle man in many cases like Rebore, crank regrind etc.
This way they strip and inspect which parts need replacing. They are happy to supply the parts or for you to!
Obviously there is Roger Clark Motorsport, AS Performance, Advance Automotive, Api, Engine Tuner, Zen Performance and the list goes on!
All have plenty of proven engines!

lol, prepared for a very opinionate thread lol
i would only ever use scoobyclinic to build mine, so does my dad. My advice go visit, dont just ring, a few places and get a feel for who you want to use, cheapest isnt always a good idea, but just because a place is expensive doesnt mean its goods either.

I found the prices very competitive. At the end of the day it was is professionalism and flexibility without compromising the build quality that made me choose finch. Things like advising that new age rods can easily handle 400 bhp, there was a few hundred saved straight away. He supplied a used crank and more to the point I knew it was a good one.
His prices on parts were cheaper than I could buy online too.
The labour prices were worth every penny for the peice of mind, again I thought they were reasonable considering what you pay in a normal garage.

he seemed to know his stuff. First thing first I need to make sure it is the big ends as im just jumping to conclusions atm. Although if its going to cost me 3 grand plus for a rebuild I think I would rather split it, even though I don't want to.
