Some people are pathetically stupid
My director asked me for a copy of my passport so I could get security clearance for a site we have a contract with in France.
Today, one of the lowly office pen pusher thinks it would be funny to send the copy of my passport to everyone at work under the title of "What happened to Harry Potter when he left Hogwarts"
Under normal circumstances, I would be the first to crack up, but the tw@t didn't even bother to edit the document so none of my details were visible!!
My director has seen the email and has gone garretty!!

I think the said lowly office pen pusher should be held down naked over the office photo copier & then fax the outcome to all departments & to every address on the company data base.
That'll teach them.
I'm bad.

Perhaps the person involved ought to be the victim of ID theft, then they'd think again before doing something so 'funny'!
People are willing to pay a fortune for a UK passport.....though god knows why!
Still at least you can rest assured knowing you have done your bit to allow another half dozen illegals into the country on a false passport - and all without trying!!

It amazes me how dense some people are with other peoples personal documents - ok, send the photo round, even with your name, but all the details shown on a passport can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

I'm all up for people taking the mick, haven't got a problem with that at all, I don't take myself too seriously as many people on here know! but the thought of ID theft from an important document seriously worries me!!
Must admit though, I do look like Harry Potter in my passport pic!!

Just think about it for a moment, do you think any of your colleagues are suddenly going to become a passport fraudster because they have seen your passport number and date of birth, maybe even where you were born?
If someone was so inclined, they can access that information and much much more very easily, so I wouldn't worry too much about having your identity stolen.

My thoughts exactly - how far & wide did that email of the Chav insurance claim form go......as one example!
Also, alot of our personal data is in the public domain, but I don't think you'll find a passport number is very easy to find!!
