Default I don't believe it...

I need to go to Blackpool on Tuesday for an hour

I've just looked up the train times and would you believe that to get to Blackpool for a 12pm appointment I need to leave the night before!!!

The journey lasts between 11 and 12 hours and I need between 4 & 6 changes of train

Get this.... they want to charge me....£424-00 for the privilidge

For that I could fly to spain, hire a car, book a hotel for 2 nights, get a weekend ticket for the F1, eat at night and then fly home again

Nothing flies to blackpool anymore so my other option is British Airways from heathrow to manchester. Parking at the airport & hire car means it's just as flippin expensive.

Looks like a slightly earlier morning than I was planning for Tuesday then

What's all the fuss?

About 270 miles, approx 5 hours, leave home at 6.0am, just to be sure, no probs!

Or ask to borrow the 'pool' car and leave at 8.00am

The 'pool' car would use all of that in fuel

You'd be Ok Mark, it already has a roll cage fitted

National Express would whisk you up there by coach for £60 ish return.

Slight problem.

It's a 10hrs journey.

With a 100 min wait (LONDON (central))

National Express coaches do it in the same journey time, with just 1 change over for £59.00 return (as mentioned above) or £71.00 Saver return on www.thetrainline.co.uk

Personally I'd drive up the night before and dive into a Premiere Inn or something.

Bloke at work regularly travels up to Blackpool on his time off and he catches an early train - he said to checkout National Rail Enquiries as there's a few trains between 06.00 and 07.00 that should get you there by 12.00 - he said there's one just gone 07.00 and you only need change once

held up by some **** who joined the M6 by going from the slip road directly to the overtaking lane nearly taking me out and then sitting there for over 100 miles without pulling over
