Default 2005 WRX300 Battery

Hi guys,

Does anyone know where on earth I can get a new battery from? I have tried halfords and Costco in Lakeside, but the terminals are the wrong way round. The positive is on the left, not the right on my battery.

I saw on the main scoobynet forum someone recommended a Bosch AsianSilver, but can't find anywhere that sells them.

Many thanks.

Part number 560 162 042 which actually says on it in incredibly small print "compatible with 55D23L".

As you look from the front of the car, the terminals are to the rear of the battery with positive on the left hand side. The similar battery you don't want is 560 163 042.

Approximate dimensions, 235mm wide, 175mm deep, and 200mm high. I got the impression that it was slightly narrower than the OEM, but there is very little clearance now it's installed, so I guess not.

I would allow 1/2 hour to fit due to difficult access, and having to re-tune the radio and set the clock.

Good luck.

As my car is a Euro import from Holland I contacted my 'not so local' dealer about a warranty replacement. Firstly they said my chassis number is not reg'd with Subaru UK although I have a letter from them clearing saying it is. After another call to Subaru UK and dealer again my car now can be found on the dealers database. They say I need to drive to them which is about 28 miles away to check battery, if duff they will put claim into Holland and wait for OK, if OK I then go back again for new battery fiiting. I decided that nearly 120 miles of petrol etc and time wasn't worth all the hassle. Knowing my luck they would say nowt wrong with it and I'd had been to them for nothing and still in my opinion got a duff battery.

Anyway Bosch 6DA went on in about 20 mins and everything is OK. Had to do clock, radio etc and now it starts instantly. Before I noticed it would turn over for a second or two and the LCD temp gauge/miles display would dim, now I get none of that and it is instant start. BTW dealer said they fit Varta 60aH battery supplied by Subaru UK which I found out that Varta are 20% owned by Robert Bosch and have same address. Draw your own conclusions to that!

Default Result!

Many thanks for all your help guys, really appreciate it.

Ordered a RedTop at lunchtime today as got amps, sub and capacitor etc. so seemed like a good investment.

Fingers crossed next time I pull up next to some hotties in a service station, I won't have to get the jump starter out and look like a complete twonk!

Nothing worse than the walk to the boot for the jump starter pack when you have just paid for your petrol
