LOL

Use the search button mate, i've covered this topic once or twice within the ESC.

In answer to your questions,

The autobahn kits are junk

No it will not fit with the OEM airbox

Yes, you will need an induction kit.

Think Frayz missed off a few bits to his usual reply.

1. Why do you want a front mount?
2. What sort of power are you hoping for?
3. What sort of other mods do you have or planned?

The fact that you still have the std air box suggests that this is to be a sensibly modded car, and therefore I am sure Frayz would suggest that you could spend your money far more fruitfully in another way.

I would not be surprised also if he did not mean to suggest that a call to Zak at Mocom would be a good idea, as indeed it would be a very good idea.

Sorry, I beg to differ, I had an Autobahn 88 FMIC on my classic and neverhad a problem, on hot days stuck in traffic I never got heat soak.

It may not be anywhere near the best I/C but it's a damn start better than the standard I/C on classics

All Im saying is I had no dramas on mine.....

I was told 320bhp was not possible on my std v4 tmic...

The Autobahn made it easily.

Some people say they are junk, BUT lot's of people with just as much expertise say they are fine

It's all about opinions

First off you've got to ask yourself why you want one? On it's own it will:-
  • increase lag
  • possibly cause some drivability issues, jerkiness on and off the throttle
  • lower charge temperatures

You will also have to fit an induction kit.

If the car is used mainly on the road I would fit an STi7> top mount, you can pick these up for around £200-250 and you could possibly fit it yourself. This would handle anything the VF28 can chuck at it.
If on the other hand the car was to see a lot of track work then I would suggest a front mounted intercooler but I would spend a little more and look at the Hybrid, this is the best budget front mount and has been proven on this years 700bhp Time Attack Pro Class winning car, along with Noltec adjustable top mounts .

Fitted price for a Hybrid FMIC here is £693.25, this includes VAT.

If you're looking for something a little more exotic then we also have the Lateral FMIC in stock along with a Prodrive WRC intercooler, also worth considering are those available from APS and Hyperflow although you're now looking at a minimum of £1k for the parts alone.

Sorry took while in mailing back!

ive had a 2.5 conversion done with a td05 20g turbo
my buget ran out to have one fitted for the time being and what i was quoted for one was bit much i thought 800 odd quid plus vat!!

i dont use the car for track or that just bit fast road use really.

see i dont know if my top mount is ok for the mods ive had done and for what i use it for. i would like to stay with the top mount but worried i might be seeing high temps when booting it about?!

is that FMIC you do mocom racing include a induction kit or is that extra?!
thanks

7 & 8 are the same size.

I have a very similar spec build to yours, with a HKS front mount, which a Mocom suggests does give some issues with 'jerkiness', coming off throttle.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, your best bet is to discuss this with Zak at Mocom. If it can be run safely with a larger topmount, then that will give a nicer drive.
(and before you ask, mine came with the front mount so continued to use it when the engine was built).

YVM, I have the same surge issue as you with a HKS fmic...I'm going to get an adapter plate made up so I can run the OEM BOV on the HKS boss. I've also increased the size of the hoses to the BOV...have you tried anything else?
