Smile It's Finally Finished - Cheers Mocom!

Ok, it’s been a long time coming, but the Chav to Stealth mobile is pretty much finished.

This has taken much longer than I had hoped for, for various reasons, but after the car spent another day at Mocom yesterday (and I spent a day on the nearby Golf course!) the car is now where I wanted it to be.

A quick summary,

Soon after I bought the car with a 2.5 fitted and full on Chav graphics, the engine let go!

After originally planning a fairly big bhp 2.5, Zak found the original block / pistons to be scrap, therefore for budget reasons a new STi 2.5 bottom end has been fitted, coupled with HKS headers, HKS front mount, full 3” Revolution system, Apexi PC ecu, and TD05 20G.

Once run in, when mapping it was found that the car suffered from boost creep, so it was mapped around that. Good but not there.

Yesterday Zak modified the wastegate to allow the boost to be controlled properly, and then mapped it accordingly.

The result is the car is now exactly what I would have wanted, pulls from 2500 rpm, full boost by 3000, lovely huge mid range kick all the way to the 7000 rpm limit. (Pulls hard all the way to the rev limit in 6th apparently)
I know it will not be the fastest scoob, (especially now Budgie has raised the high bar!), but it is now a very quick, sensibly modded road car.

AP 6 pots, Adjustable shocks/Eibachs and a load of Whiteline goodies, all set up by Mocom ensure it can use the power available.

So a big cheers to Mocom, Zak and Luke have done a great job.
It has not been plain sailing to get to this point, but I am well pleased with end result!

unfortunately there still seems to be a couple of problems;

1. when i have a passenger in the car there is a strange shrill wailing sound coming from the n/s. I am not fully sure if this is engine or road speed related, as it occurs under hard acceleration, high speed, braking and cornering. Fortunately this does seem to clear once the passenger gets out of the car.

2. I am experiencing serious muscle spasms around my cheek bones, caused by my constant grinning.

It's very impressive. A tough project but well done to Mocom for getting it to this stage

Well done guys and congrats Neil.

A 20g'd 2.5 in a classic feels really really good. I love Gerrys stripped out track wagon with a similar setup. I cant wait to get my 2.5 build rolling now.

I have a few more bits to sort out and then the parts purchasing will commence

It was a ride in the wagon that finalised the spec

no problem. more than confident now. done a whole car like it last weekend as even the rotary wasn't getting the deeper swirls out! plus there were loads of scratches that i had to fill and then flat down. was easier that way. looked pretty cool in flat red mica.

lol. leather will clean up pretty easy. could be fun getting stuff out the carpets though
