As Frayz says, you'll get different reactions

I've got the AB88 on my car and it's been fine, though it's only a mildly tuned 2.5

IMO you only get what you pay for mate.

The Autobahn 88 coolers i have seen and tested had very poor far eastern cores with very few internal fins which is great for a low pressure drop but very poor for actual heat rejection.
One in particular was fitted to a very mildly tuned 2ltr classic and even on the motorway we would be seeing constant temps of 35deg C.

The pipework is pretty poor and a rather cheap chrome finishing on it too.

Like i say.. these are just my thoughts and experiences....

IMO id spend as much money as possible on a brand name cooler... dont worry youre not just paying for the name.

IMO you get whta you pay for with intercoolers.

if you only go by one rule, let it be "buy the best you can afford"

I'm not going to argue with Frayz simply because he's done his research, and I haven't got a ACT gauge on my car so I don't know exactly whats going on with the charge temperatures, so my argument is straightaway groundless, though I don't get heatsoak like I did with the old top mount, mind you the old slanted I/C isn't exactly efficient!

To be honest, I've lost interest with my car hence selling it, so I'm not worried how good/bad my FMIC actually is.
That's not to say I won't help other people out with their Scoobies though, I'll still be going to meets

Not out of sight mate with the right mods.

If thats your ultimate goal id also consider the STi topmount from an STI 7 onwards.

Ahhh, my car is a classic, so my experience of the '88 won't apply.

I honestly would heed Frayz's advice, especially as he's working close with Mocom Racing, (well, that's my understanding)

The STI 8 I/C is very good, personally, I wouldn't of sold it if you're not after big power figures

but i have sn sti8 top mount at mo ??

surely the fmic i have shown is better than any topmount unless oversized due to its position ??

or am i talkin out of my asse ?

i would love more than 350 but i believe that wont be achievable on a vf35 ?

not so, I've put TMIC's onto cars that are bigger than the STI 8, but people have taken them off and replaced them with an STI 8 I/C.

They may be bigger, but they're not always better

STI 7/8 cooler is very very efficient.. probably the most efficient tmic out there mate.

No matter what you do you wont see 350 with a VF35 anyway.. it wont flow the air required for a genuine 350bhp mate.

Some out there say it can be done but its all pub talk mate. Get a TD0518g mate.. these spool like crazy and will give you a very nice useable amount of go

No way.. alll this crap about lag is **** mate. It might show lag on a laptop but nothing you would really feel out on the road. Come have a go in my 20g'd STi and see how little lag there is.

Its all a load of sheep talk mate.

frayz's cars inst that modified, just been done with complete efficiency in mind (like mine I hope).

Charge cooling is the ultimate aim - the STi top mount will do this fine. A FMIC 'may' be better at it but maybe not really worth it unless you are going to spending large amounts of time on track or want to impress your pub mates

The Mocom school of mods for this can make a big difference for very little cost and has a massive reduction in my charge temps aswell as intake temps before that. (I do have a charge temp gauge)

There is lots that can be done at relatively zero cost plus zak will always try to stop you spending money unecessarily on stuff you would be disappointed with

Having said that, the Perrin FMIC is calling my name
