Default What Tyres???

To put on my R/C car

Only joking

I need to get some tyres for the scoob and have narrowed down to 2 makes I think

Toyo T1R and Vredestein Ultrac size 225x45x17

I know some of you have probably used the toyos but would be interested in your views before I buy.

Both are the same price in Elite anyway.

heard good reviews of the Vredestein Ultrac, would sway away from the Toyos after running them

How about Goodyear F1s or Michelins?

I use Toyo T1-R's on mine

But I've heard very good things about the Vredestein Ultrac, especially in the wet... there meant to be unbeatable

I've been trialling some Vredesteins ( ) for a couple of weeks and I am very, very impressed. Will certainly be my next choice of tyre!

I done quite a bit of research on these tyres having had the toyos, gd3 F1 and potenzas RE070, and now have Micheline's Ps2, I was going to bye the Vredesteins from Zak at Morcom because I needed 235x45x17 and know one else had them, but just as I decided to bye Micheline done a deal of 25% off if you brought 4, and having a membership to Costco`s they were I think only £360 fitted, I have been very impressed with them, the best wet tyre I have had and a very competent tyre in the dry, Not as stiff as the RE070 potenzas which I think you will find hard to beat for dry grip, but still very good, the toyos don`t have the grip of the Ps2`s or the ware rate either the F1`s edges wear very quickly and look poo but have good all weather grip.
Going to stop now before it starts to look like a book.......

Chapter two next week.

Verdict Vredesteins
Darren

I have the T1R's on at the moment.... heard such good things, wanted to try them, as i had run the Prada's and liked them, but was a little cautios in the wet.....

However the T1R's i find the car squirms all the time... It feels like i'm driving on jelly. the grips good, but with my haredr suspensions and set up etc. i can feel the tyres flex, which intialy feels like i'm loosing grip. This is causing me to back off all the time. or if i overtake quickly, then the car feels unbalanced where the back end starts to wobble in the tyres.....
a very unnerving experience.

i also ran the good year f1's, which i found to be very good.

T1R's are supposed to have the reinforced sidewalls aren't they?

Yeah but how reinforced mate. When youre on a decent track based chassis setup. Road tyre performance just feels worse and worse. They just cant cope with the loadings generated by the chassis.

best tyres i've had on a scooby were the bridgestone so1 that came with my last classic. great all rounder but not sure if you can still get them. had toyo t1-s on there afterwards and was never as happy with them.
