cheers

quick dash over with some back to black type stuff on the plastics to keep them looking clean and it was done. helped to have the compressor to blow away the excess water too.

Did mine last year, really came up well as I don't think it had ever been done.
Since that time only Knowlsey has looked under the bonnet so I have no idea what it looks like now

really is a piece of cake to do. get a can of spray on gunk from halfords, about a fiver, arm yourself with this and 5 £1 coins. go to the local karcher station. spray on gunk, wait 10 mins for it to work it's magic, then with someone holding the revs at around 2k - 3k place the £1 coins into the washer, stick onto engine mode and off you go. - repeat if needed.

i done mine twice, but the second time i done it with the normal pressure washer at home with the engine just idling. must admit, well chuffed that the bay is clean.

if anyone does want any help to do theirs, just give me a shout.

Thats a hell of a difference, good work

I've always been a bit reluctant to use a steam cleaner/pressure washer on the engine, in the past i've always used spray on engine degreaser and a cloth which has taken hours.

Do to the design of the Impreza engine i'd like to give it a steam clean, what would i need to cover, battery, alarm, alternator, anything else?

Just the alarm and the alternator for me mate. Keep the engine running and be sensible with the jet wash...

The degreaser does the all the work not the jet wash, you just need to wash all the residue off using the jetwash. Use an old toothbrush to agitate some of the really dirty areas before using the jet and you'll be fine.

must admit i didn't cover anything up. as milamber said, the jet wash is only to rinse off. when i gave it the second going over i got my compressor out after and blew off the water that was hanging around.
