"Boy Racers" on TV...
Not an event, but...who watched Trevor McDonald tonight about Boy Racers!! Someone made a good point that not ALL car enthusiasts were dangerous drivers...
...as I've always said:

i watched it.
the comments by the wagon owner were interesting. a 2.2 engine running 300 bhp and he done 160mph on a public road and bottled out. i'd be interested to take a closer look at his car as i don't 100% agree with his claims. he's not doing anything to boost the reputation of the average subaru owner.
but you are quite right emem. not all of us drive round like nutters.

The girl with the "purple" escort (I think??) didn't do us "Girl Enthusiasts" much good...what was going on with that car!!! Each to there own I suppose ?? I think they made the program very one sided....didn't really say much about clubs like this one, well organised no mucking about at meets, strict rules etc....the only club they did film, ended up being hi jacked by a load of Boy Racers!!!!
Oh well, dont suppose it will ever change !!!

no she didn't and that escort was imo awful. i had one of those and personally think the key with those is to be subtle.
The ESC is very well organised and one i am proud to say i am a part of.
i gave up watching in the end as it was getting on my nerves. no doubt that plod will have seen it and be after those of us with non standard cars. oh well, as long as they get the ones that cause the trouble .

Me and the wife had a slow drive down from Basildon with him following us. We stopped of at the seafront tonight and had a cuppa.
Someone spotted him and asked me if he was the guy on tv last night
I said i don't know..........He said it was, And something about a simulator or something and that his wagon was 300 bhp........oops.......i put my foot in it, and told him there was no chance he was running at 300bhp when he has a standard 2000 turbo engine with a td04, catted at the down pipe etc etc.
He was told that the engine he had in the wagon was a rb5......i showed him it wasn't, and open my lid to show him he had the same engine as mine, except his was a import as his had air conditioning.
The guys where really good to chat too. I believe he has been given the wrong info by people, as he has nothing to prove its 300bhp. He stated that this is what he was told by people, and that he had receipts to prove. I said what do you mean reciepts to prove, and he stated that it was on the receipt that the wagon was approx 300bhp......i remember someone telling me the same story when i bought my wagon.
