Hi all,

just signed up to ScoobyNet after finding it by accident and thought I would say hello.

Always wanted a Subaru, and last month finally had permission from the missus and a little spare cash so treated myself to a mint condition 2002 Black STi (WRX spoiler though as I don't like the boy racer image the big spolier gives!). It is all I expected, except for the horrible pink badges!!
If you see me driving around the Stanford-le-Hope area then give me a wave. I will try and get to a meet, but work is too busy at the mo to make any coming up.

One question I have, what apart from the noise are the pro and cons of fitting a dump valve, and roughly how much should I be looking to pay?

Will be checking this site out from now on, so will hopefully keep in touch!

Thanks and hello again

HI mate, nice to see youve joined the mad house!!! The dump valve will prolong the life of your turbo, as it releases preasure thus keeping the turbines going the right direction. Thats the scalled down version.

Boy racer spoiler? it's a part of life in the scoby scene mate also pink is the must have colour, you'll soon see why!!

As you're also a Stanford Boy, you won't miss my rally slag, dark blue classic, along with the unmissable Wilf - fully kitted Blobeye and not forgetting STI-CKI with the red 22B arched classic.

Also theres V1CK1 and Kemmers, who work in King Street they have a blue blobeye and a silver classic.

If you see me around Stanford/Coringham, give me a shout mate.

Above all, welcome to the clan

As for dumpvalve, totally necessary for a flamer

really, they're from £100 onwards as a rough idea

Thanks for the welcome, I will have a look around for you all when I am out and about.
I will keep the pink on for the time being and hope I get used to it!!
Where's the best place to go locally for a decent dump valve to be fitted? A mate of mine has a Skyline and uses a place near Lakeside, although the name of the place escapes me at the moment. Any particular makes best suited for a Subaru or do I have to go to Subaru to get one fitted?
Sorry for all the questions, but isn't that what forums are for.

Welcome! I'm fairly new too, but it all looks fab on here!
Always makes me smile when "he" needs permission from the "missus" to get a fast car! I'm always telling my OH to get rid of slow car and get something more exciting! (he did finally, got rid of Escort cab and now has another Sierra Cossie
, his 3rd !)
Anyway, I'm selling my 4x4 and hoping to get a Scooby very soon, and hope to see you at some meets!

Welcome aboard matey!

I live local too, also in a Black STi (53 plate).

Don't forget that your car already has a dump valve fitted! Its a recirculating one that does the job just fine but without the whoosh sound. Lots of theories on here about the pro's and con's of each, it comes down to personal choice at the end of the day.

Makes me wonder though that if you don't like the boyracer image a big spoiler gives, then I'm not sure a VTA dump valve is what you are after!

I love the sound the dump valve makes, but I just don't like the look of the STi spoiler, more personal prefernce rather than the image, it is just a bit too big and OTT.
I think the dump valve is a must though, not sure if it was one of you guys but a red scooby went past me the other day and changed gear just as we passed, I gotta have one too!!
