Recommendations of an I.C.E Upholsterer in Harlow area
Does anyone know of a decent upholsterer / ice installer in the Harlow area that could cover a sheet of MDF. Similar to the way base boxes etc are covered.
Here's what i would like covering http://www.wrx-carpc.co.uk/Photos/sl...0Mount%202.JPG
It has curves etc in it and i don't trust myself doing it for it to look right. I would like it done in the same coloured fabric which is already in the boot.
Many thanks,
Steve

Steve that looks like it has been made raw edge. So the material is glued out and stuck to the mdf, then using a sharp knife or scalpel trimmed back up to the wood.
To get a good tight turn will depend on the material and what the back of the item is going up against, you could do it yourself.
In answer to your question though, no I dont know anyone in the Harlow Area, there was a chap around Cheshunt - INCA audio systems or something similar that seems to specialise in ICE, might be worth looking him up.

fitzscoob - Thanks for your reply. How do you mean 'Raw Edge' ? The carpet i have seen to cover it is made by Autoleads and is the stuff you can cover base boxes with, so reasonably flexible. The MDF is 18mm thick, so again, should be a good base to glue to i guess.
The board is mounted to the back of the seats using exisiting mounts, so only a small portion of it will be visible when looking into the boot from the ski-slot. I have also made a door for the hole in the MDF but not sure if i am going to use this yet. I had to leave the hole there in-case i wanted to use the slot and any point. Its to mount all the computer equipment etc, so it should be a decent size anyway.
I just don't trust myself doing it !!

Try "Just ICE" at Bush fair - Tel: 01279-411992.
Before I had a Scooby and was in a Clio Sport they managed to sort out the trims when I had the CD/Radio upgraded, but not sure if they can do what you are looking for, but got to be worth a phone call........

do it yourself mate.
take your time, and use good adhesives. there are plenty of trimming materials available, if you have the time.
i'm sure it will look nice.

'Cos I'm at home today (Other half came out of hospital this morning) I've just looked in the local phone book and seen under "Car Interior Refurbishers" a firm called GD Autotrim, 37 Burnt Mill, Elizabeth Way, Harlow - Tel: 01279-423888.
Got to be worth making another phone call if Just Ice can't help......

Done something similar myself a few years back on a false floor for my RS Turbo. Not that hard to do, use some spray adhesive on the covered side & then tack into place on the reverse....
