Wrx 2.5 hawkeye (2006)
Hi All, just bought a standard wrx 2.5 (2006) . Could I get advice on safe upgrade upto 320 bhp in terms of cost and type of upgrades? And the places where it can be done?

Hi buddy welcome to the club
Basicly what i think your gonna need is a
walbro 255 fuel pump
Induction kit
Exhaust
Possibly an Electronic boost controller
Possibly an sti intercooler or even better a front mount
Remap
Then i think you should get 320 bhp
There's loads of subaru tuners about, I would say have a search who's local to you with a good reputation

Thanks for the Infos. I am from Taunton , somerset .Actually car has already got k&n filter and ninjaII back box with stainless pipe. Rest are all standard . So roughly how much would be the price you think for my upgrades? Is it good idea to get used parts for bargain price or go for brand new? I mean price wise how much would I be spending for used parts and the brand new parts? I have the budget around £600 but could go higher if it's for best result in terms of safety and smoothness. Regards

If you need an sti top mount intercooler then a good second hand one would be fine , Have a search on ebay
Boost controller you can get second hand but i'd go for new on this one . Gizzmo IBC is about £180 new
It sounds like the remap will be a first time for the car so your looking at £400-£600 There
You may not need a boost controller and an intercooler, Im sure somebody will come along to correct me on this one

STOP what your doing, you DON'T need a boost controller, i maxed out an sti top mount at 400bhp on the standard boost controller, that's whats the map is for.
Fuel pump isn't 100% needed however prob a good idea, Mine ran out of fueling at 330bhp, but that was on an sc46. Thats is more than the standard turbo is capable of (expect 260-280bhp)
STI top mount isn't needed but as above could be a good upgrade to do at the same time.
Decat, panel filter, remap will max the turbo out and will be all you need as a starter for ten.
Your fairly near engine tuner, pop down and see them, they will advise what you do and don't actualy need and price.

Hi mate
I have the same car, and have been reluctant to push the engine due to its known failings. A quick search will tell you those.
Mine has 107k miles on it and running well so I dont want to tempt fate.
I'm not saing dont do it, but be careful

So after my research have seen many places for remap. They are starting around £150 upto £500 Or more. Is it better to go for Subaru specialist and pay more or go to any normal place with less charge? There are some mobile service too. The remap company claims that remap gives more power + fuel efficiency too, is it true? As the car already got ninjaII back box with stainless pipe, do I need to get whole New decat exhaust system or not?

as above mate do some reading on the 2.5 engine failures first before you consider going on the power hunt. the 2.5 has been called a "chocolate engine" as there have been ringland failure problems with them. a lot of guys forge the engine or factor in the cost of a rebuild if your one of the unlucky ones. a search on here will lead you to some posts on the subject.
