Default Methanol drinking sccob advice please.

Hi there,
Running methanol at 20% on my STI 6 and mapped accordingly.

car runs great.

I'm thinking on doing a nurburg run and obviously will take some methanol over. my question is....

what if i run out of methanol? is the car ok to drive on straight SUL pump fuel or am i going to melt my engine?

any advice greatly appreciated.

if its mapped for meth it will need it, you risk pre-detonation without using it

Users of methanol usually have a multi map ECU to have a petrol only map available.
Think you're running a bit of a risk with a petrol/methanol map only?

Do you have switcheable maps on yours ECU?

If yes then if you will run out the methanol switch to different fuel map

If not I wouldn't run car without methanol if car has been mapped for methanol, car mapped for methanol will/can run leaner

Then you can only run it on Meth unless you get a remap. Using Meth on an ECU which can only run one map isn't a good idea

your correct mate. No meths = a richer fuel mix which is probably ok if kept out of boost range

Surely meths would mean a leaner fuel mix as you can use less fuel as meths keeps the temps down to prevent pre-ign

I think you run approx 13% extra fuel when using 20%meth over straight fuel because of the lower caloriphic value of meth. On boost my 20% map AFR'S are 11.9.1, straight fuel is 11.3.1.

As stated meths yields less energy than petrol so you need to chuck more in. Therefore if you use petrol only you'll be running very rich and have reduced det suppression which is bad. However I'm not sure if the standard knock control would be able to handle it, I wouldn't risk it though.
