Default Turbo 2000 remap.. worth it?

hi

Im thinking about a remap. Currently, I have a turbo 2000 with PPP. Its last dyno showed around 245-250bhp. Not bad.

I do not plan to mod the car really, add a panel filter maybe a better fuel pump and that's about it. I'm more about handling/chassis mods.

So is it worth looking at a remap? Will I see much improvement over the PPP?

A good mapper should be able to increase that to 260-280bhp.

My car had the following mods when I was going to get it mapped:

2 1/2" Hayward + Scott turbo back exhaust, straight through with just the back box.
K+N panel filter.

Did a wee bit of digging about on here for some advice and a few other suggested picking up a different used turbo.

Ended up paying roughly £100 for a converted front entry TD05, had that fitted along with a new fuel pump then had it mapped.

Car is now 335bhp and 320lb/ft torque.

Def worth it esp for the little extra outlay of the TD05 and fitting.

Depends what your plans are. If you want to track the car and on a budget then money would be better spent on decent tyres, suspension and brakes first as they'll show the most improvement to your lap times. Then do the engine mods later.

Good thinking mate, I appreciate that, however, its not cost holding me back, I'm just not really after massive power and don't want to alter the cars engine too much.

Plans are to keep it relatively standard, but make improvements over OEM spec stuff. I prefer handling mods, so my main cost will go there, brakes, suspension and drivetrain mods are on the cards I tend to agree, will be faster doing this rather than power

I'm unsure on a remap, purely because its a fair few hundred quid for what seems to be a 10-30bhp increase and better driveability... which I guess just means better power delivery ? I guess I mean to say it doesn't seem like good "value."

Theres no right answer really, it's your call. Have you already got decent suspension, tyres and brakes etc? And spare cash?

take it to 300 with matching supporting brakes and suspension and you will have quite a car - you will never be out of the thing.

Thats all being done as we speak. Had to do clutch/flywheel first. Brakes being sorted. Got tyres. Suspension i like as it is.. maybe lowering springs. Definitely poly bushing the lot.

Manual boost controller and something to monitor knock. Decat would make a nice difference.

It may seem like alot of money for a few minor changes so to speak, but the difference that few bhp makes from a map will totally transform the car, comin on to boost stronger, holding the boost longer, all them little things add up to a big difference, I can remember the first time i went to have a car mapped, what a difference it made, put a massive smile on my face

Wouldn't mind a decat, silly question but will it increase noise? That's something I want to avoid. Maybe a sports cat?
