Default Safe power to take a wrx to.

What would be a safe figure to run my blob wrx to? At the minute its got uprated i/c 3" exhaust although still has cat, standard turbo, only just purchased and its mapped to 265bhp so im told, although when picked up it will be taken to a rr to see.

I blew my 2.0 bugeye at 370, although this was in Germany after a few laps of the ring. Personally and with hindsight I'd stick to about 350 on a std WRX block/internals. There are some running more and doing so reliably it's down to the level of risk you wish to take?

I'm running 340bhp soon to be upped to 350bhp and 320lb torque after fitting my fmic. Any higher and I think the gearbox will commit suicide.

350 is the upper limit for standard internals and gearbox.

350hp was about the limit 4 or 5 years ago when I was tuneing my blob, engine or gearbox I'd be backing off a bit on a 10 year old car.

............been running my bug WRX at 325 bhp plus for the last 10 years, currently at about 400 ish with methanol injection. In the meantime broke 2 WRX boxes so now have an STi 6 speed box.

Crosses fingers

Safely is surely down to several things ie, driving style (lots of redline), servicing, age etc.. If your really that worried I'd stay in the boundaries of your TD04 and as above save for an STI. My WRX is running 346.9 at the moment and has been for going on a year using race grade oils. It's a personal gamble IMO, I'm lucky enough to have some funds saved if it all goes wrong but others aren't so lucky.
