Default Fitting a 2005 WRX ECU into 2002 WRX

I have got hold of a PPP ECU from a 2005 WRX and want to fit it to my sons 2002 WRX.
I believe the 2005 car has an electronic PCV valve and the 2002 doesn't so will obviously put the engine light on.
I could get it mapped out but then what's the point of fitting the ppp ecu I might aswell just get the original one mapped.
when I'm back at work next week I will go through the wiring diagrams to see how to get around this but wonderd if anyone on here has the answer?
Thanks.

Electronic PCV valve? US cars have an extra PCV oil leakage sensor we don't get.
The PCV valve changed with the 2.5L hawkeye

Turbo engine ECU pinouts attached for comparison

you might get a code for the alternator as well (can show up as "brake booster" on some tools) which you can have turned off or fit the newer alternator to the car. Honestly it's usually much easier to have a prodrive map flashed onto your 02 ECU for the price of a tactrix openport (or bribe someone locally who has one).

Ok thanks,I will fit it and see what codes I get.
Otherwise like you say I will get the 02 ecu flashed.
Thanks.

Fitted the ecu and as said above I get fault code P2503 alternator low output.
This is because the 2005 ECU has the smart charge system with 3 wires going to the alternator and an output for the alternator at the ECU plug B84 pin 11.
The 2002 ecu doesn't have the output at the ECU so has no pin in the harness and only has 2 wires at the alternator (but has 3 pin alternator fitted).
I have been looking through a filing cabinet full of old CD workshop manuals but cant find a 2005 one yet, I need to know if the missing wire goes from the ECU to the 3rd pin on the alternator and if it goes anywhere in between or if it goes somewhere completely different if that makes sense?? Don maybe you can help?

maybe I will put the alternater off my forester on it as a test.

Not quite.
It means for Australia (except Australian STI model) use E12
for all other models (including Europe and Australian STI)) use E11

from another diagram......

Thanks again that confirms it is the pins I thought it was.
I have run a temporary wire and the engine light came back on so I'm thinking the early newage alternators are not smart charge so I will try a later alternator with the wire in place.

Problem solved!! Ran a wire from the ECU plug B84 pin 11 to pin 3 at the alternator, fitted a later alternator and all seems good!
Thanks

Curious, but when fitting that, leaving about the above code issue, did anything else have to be swapped, keys or transponders or anything?
I've a 2003, if I got a 2003 PPP ECU would it be simple plug and play?

2003 to 2003 would be straight swap apart from needing your keys coded.
