Default Map by Andrew Carr

Just want to post about how happy I am with Andrew Carr working his magic on my car, I've read posts about him been hard to get hold of etc etc. I've had no bother at all and communication has been spot on, he emailed my RR graphs out the next day along with some use information for my future plans.

My hatch has recently been built by Richard Henrys who have also been brilliant and the car made 450/420 on a std pos GT30.

yea that's why I thought I'd write something and give my personal feedback, thanks and yes feels very nice on the road although it is quite laggy it's helped along with the flat foot shifting.

Used the RR over at teg sport carnforth, not sure if it's Andrews or Tegs actually. Yes I will try upload the graph not uploaded a pic before so bare with.

Where did you get the map done? Was it at Richard Henrys?

Not sure Jay, he did mention that but noting about why he stopped. I asked about ecus and he mentioned something labs might of been Ecu labs? Must be what he's started doing.

I think both have their place, was it signed off with a final road map after the RR sesh? Not sure how much it matters or if just RR is ok?

No he did five runs on the RR which I was surprised with, so plenty of tweaking going on. He had previously road mapped it only a month before to get me up and running as I was too impatient following the lonngg 1000m run in.

The road map showed 430/390 on the RR first run so it shows how much more he got out of it on the RR.

reason i asked about the 2.5 is torque seems pretty low and as you said pretty laggy. Typically you'd expect torque to be higher than the bhp on a 2.5.

As long as its running safe afr and not detting its all good.

Thanks appreciate the feedback bud, I think the reason the torque is low is because of the turbo I have, the exhaust housing is very big and due the the size of the turbo that's why it spools up so late. Sorry if that don't make complete sense, I'm still learning my stuff as I go along and can't remember everything he told me.

He said for the torque to be higher and as expected, the turbo needs to be spooling up before 4K revs.

Would you be able to explain safe afr and detting briefly?

power is nothing if the engine is pushed to far that it self destructs, AFR = Air fuel ratio, aka the air and fuel going into the engine needs to be balanced. Det is when the fuel ignites or burns at the wrong time so damages the engine.

Have a read,

http://www.contactmagazine.com/Issue...ineBasics.html

Basicly AFR needs to be right and det is bad.

Normaly you get a power/torque graph and a boost afr,

Picked up a standard Spec C hawkeye today from MattyB's that Andy had mapped and I've got to say it's a great map, pulls hard in every gear. Feels punchy and fast, well done Mr Carr.

The Spec C was a car I imported for someone and needed mapping for U.K fuel. Apparently Paul Walker said you can never have enough cars so I'm living life by those rules. Lol

Can anybody help me understand boost pressure please, so since the remap I've had a little issue with the car overboosting and going into limp mode. After restarting the car a few times the fault resets itself.

I have ordered a Perrin 4 bar map sensor this morning and meeting the mapper on Tuesday for a tweak and for him to hopefully fit the sensor and map it in.

Does this mean I could run more than 1.6bar boost with the new sensor now? From what I've read the standard senor os maxed out at 24psi which is about 1.6bar (I think)

Thanks
