Default Change of ECU 2005 twinscroll

Hi all
Ok so currently i have a standard ECU for a 2005 blobeye JDM twinscroll sti.
If i had an ecu from another motor that had been remapped, what problems would i face when putting in a different ecu that had been remapped.
It would be the same standard ecu that had been remapped from a same year car.

Obviously when the other ecu was remapped it was done so with a specific set of modifications so therefore i would have to match them to get anywhere near what it was remapped to.
But what about central locking etc.... any issues?

Why not just map your own ecu by the time you buy a mapped one then match all the mods then still need to goto original mapper to have it checked

Good point. Has crossed my mind. Its just i have seen an ECu that has been remapped, and its a good price. So was thinking about it. All in all probably saves a few hundred quid. But then yes in it would have to go to in to get checked anyway.
Curious to know if anyone has done similar.

This is all speculation at the moment. Havn't purchased the ECU yet, its just playing on my mind.
Trying to find out a bit of information about the map on the moment.

Prodrive flash a generic rom for a set of modifications.
What map is it? Carberry? Open source? Prodrive? Ecutek?
What mods did the car it came off have? Standard turbo etc?

As Peter says, probably work out safer and cheaper to have yours remapped.

Lets say you get ecu for £150 then map checked roughly £150-200 so cheapest been £300 not taking into all like for like mods then either having to get the keys locks or yours programmed seems a waste of time just map yours ecutek £450ish or opensource £300

Seems a fair point.

Difference between ecutek (for example and opensource)

Been quoted £530 i think from Bob Rawle, seem to be one of the more expensive. I used to have a Legacy GTB which was mapped by him, so have experience, but whats teh difference between that and opensource?
