i used to ether keep at about 5k and just full throttle dump the cltuch or i used to keep to about 3500-4000 and sort of ride the clutch i always found sliping the clutch the best method as it didnt make my car sound like it was gonna fall apart and also the back end of mine on dumping the clutch could get a bit leary.
ive got a few mates who have 600cc bikes and not one of then could pass with me if i was aggresive in the changes and start got to about 100 and theyd pass me but it cut at 112 mph speed limiter was still there.
i had a video on a duel road with a lad i know and his zx6r he got realy frustrated coz he just couldnt do a full throttle change it to pass me or the front would lift the ower was there he just couldnt use it aggresive enough as me.

2 methods really
1. slip the clutch, a bit more sympathetic but will hurt your clutch quick.
2. side step the clutch, this enables it to bite instantly and not slip but aint to clever for the box and diffs.
you takes your chances either way.

Slipping the clutch is the best way (and gives you the fastest start) and is the more mechanical sympathetic but it takes some getting use to as most people will bog their turbo down to start with

Tried it once...........
I give it 4,500 RPM and just slipped my foot off the clutch
Never again!! nearly snapped my neck and then killed myself by driving into the units across the way from my works.
I try not to red line it though, the peak power seems to drop off after 6,000?
2nd and 3rd gears it seems to pull like a train

1) Dial in 5000rpm
2) Sidestep the clutch
3) Shoot forward
4) Hear bang
5) Wave goodbye to pieces of your TY52 gearbox in your rear view mirror
6) Call David at APi to get a proper gearbox in your car
7) Bank manager says he's "very disappointed" in you
8) Wife/GF leaves you
9) Console yourself with WAGs thread!

i hit 4.5k drop the clutch and fire leaving my spine still at the traffic lights lol
did this a couple of months back when a rsturbo pulled up the side of me making all the noise with his exhaust and dump valve etc the amazement on his face when he caught up (i slowed down of course no illegal street racing) i definately hit 60 in around 4-5 seconds

i hold the clutch about half ways just at the point when the car will start to move...........then
i tend to blip the throttle around 5000 revs on and off, rather than hang it there on the clutch.........then
let the clutch out and press the throttle about 3 quarter ways so's it launches and when you feel the traction full throttle the rest of the way.....this step sounds like much but its all done in less than a second
my car is a standard wrx 1995 import
setting off normal and then nailing 1st gear only goes to about 25 mph if that.
launching the way i explained if done correctly i have seen 40 mph out of 1st gear.

Note to all of the above.
Do not do this with your girlfriend in the car lol did it the other night there was screams and by the time we hit third gear we had tears and a panic attack lol. Be warned this may damage relationships!

There's a slight less chance of damage if you pre-load the transmission, by holding the car temporarily on the handbrake. Load it up then let her go.... Arrhhhhhhhhh

My wife launched my old car once at the traffic lights. An RA pulled up along side and he saw her driving so wasn't expecting any competition. She asked me what to do so I said get the revs up then come off the clutch quickly but not all at once.
Fair play she sent the thing flying and the other Impreza driver wasn't expecting it at all.
