I got my scooby engine from a breakers and this is the intercooler - more correctly the charge cooler that I picked up a couple of weeks later. It did have all the subaru impreza stickers on but I have since taken them off. Anyone know what it is from?

Cool

It looks like a Legacy charge cooler, there was a post recently where somebody fitted one to an impreza.

Cheers,

Does the legacy run a separate rad/fan for the charge cooler then - if so anyone know how big this is?

There is a small radiator that sits infront of the main radiator.

That is indeed a Legacy air/water intercooler heat exchanger - see my page here .

If you have got the whole engine, bear in mind that the Legacy engine was 197bhp - not 220bhp+....

Thanks

Although the legacy RS jap model does claim 220bhp. When u hav a legacy, imprezas are easy much faster by far despite the HP numbers...

As I'm not really sure which engine I have is there any real way to tell - engine number or similar - at the mo the engine is in a VW beetle so it really confusing. I got a wiring loom for an impreza and it fits, it all looks the same as the Impreza lump, even using a magnex twin dump down pipe.

Any help most appreciated :-)

Best 1/4 time so far - 13.52 @ 105 mph with air leak/hot water in charge cooler/broken gearbox mount and mullered gearbox.

Right, I'd better swap my Impreza for a Legacy quick!

There is an email group for REALISTIC Legacy owners here who will have more specific information:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BC-BFLegacyWorks/

Another site worth a visit is Richard's - he transplanted a MY97 engine into a 356 speedster replica: http://www.ricola.co.uk

I'm sure it makes very little difference if the engine is in a Beetle - either way, it is going to be very quick...

Thanks

Gavin
