Default Twin Plate Clutch Repair?

I was at a MLR Sprint this evening, and the practise laps went spot on, then the proper timing started, and when I came to my 2nd launch, there was a loud bang, and very little drive

The car does move, but as if the clutch is slipping, although its an Exedy Twin plate, so doubt it's slipping, but a few guys there think it sounded/drove like one of the plates had destroyed itself.

Does that sound viable? a friction plate destroying itself?

How much are new ones?

Cheers

Im not sure if you can buy just the friction plate on its own, worth giving clutch and gearbox a call as they are official exedy dealers

It was 'new' when I bought it, but doesn't have a lot of miles on it (8k maybe), and has only done 10-12 launches.

There is a company that will just replace the friction material on each of the paddles but i cant find my link to it. The problem you may have is if its damaged a stator.

Err just a thought, I had exactley the same situation, exedy twin plate, Fine for practice and then loud bang and minimal drive at the start of the sprint at Elvington. Car would move but very slowly and made a squeeling noise, I was sure it was the clucth, and all set to shout at exedy (Done about 1700miles).
I spoke to David at APi first who advised to check my rear half shafts, low and behold I had snapped the offside half shaft clean through. I could even get drive just by locking the diff, although didn`t go anywhere like this! It has snapped just be the CV joint and still held up by the boot .

Could be completely a one off on mine, but might be worth a quick check.

Cheers for the replies guys!

It turned out it was actually an O/S front drive shaft, so have got one on order!
