Question Clutch slipping???

Hi guys

How do you know when your clutch is goosed?? on full boost revometer sometimes 'jumps' if you know what i mean? only had the car 2 weeks and previous owner said it had just been remapped with a larger turbo.

if it is the clutch how much is it going to cost me?

Exact same thing happened to me 8 months ago. Quotes came in from £550 upwards to replace the clutch.

your clutch is probably fine, just your making too much power for it, uprating is the only way

i got mine from aztec ,
exedy pink box and lightweight flywheel, about £520 i think, this is the six speed sti version,
and about £350 to fit.
the way to tell if its worn is put the car in fifth or six if you have it at about 40mph and put your foot down , when the boost cuts in it will slip if worn.

just check your car is not 3 wheel drive, some scoobs have been known to have a drive shaft come out which owners think is clutch slip. Ing off, in 1st gear, jack up one wheel off deck at a time, try and rotate wheel. if turns freely drive shaft issue. IIRC

If goosed the clutch "Bite" is normally when pedal is nearly all the way up.

Beware cheap clutches of flea bay as their uprated ones cant hack 250bhp, they maybe in a pink box but should be in Skip you only pay for what you get.

speak/ Pm BOB5 on here (aztec performance) quality ensurance

also a concideration as your not sure of cars history I've had 5 clutches in scoobs go and 3 needed new flywheels

clutch bite point wont change with a hydraulic clutch! also £350 to do a clutch in a scoob is a bit excessive, its quite an easy job, look to pay anywhere between £100 to £200

I agree with that, Rich at FB is certainly cheaper than that and he advised me to fit an excedy pink in mine and mine's a 6 speed too

i dont think any garage will even look at fitting a clutch in a 6 speeder for a £100.and although it is a pretty straight forward job if you know what your doing,i wouldnt call it an easy job.

local place charges £150 quid labour to change a 5 or 6 speed clutch, obviously plus parts still.
