Although the TY754 are ultimately stronger than the early casings, I've not seen any failures which have been put down to casing flex.

Default PPG

I had looked at this a while ago but not in great detail, I THINK the opinion is that Helical is slightly weaker than the straight cut but the straight cut is very noisey. The helical kits are much quieter and work more like factory and an still handle big power apparently, I stand to be correctred though.

No; I believe you are correct.
Having driven a 'semi helical 'Dog change Possum Borne gear set on a sprint track, the box was so so sweet.
No whining just super sharp changes (5 speed V3 TY 752 case)

Would drive me mad driving it on the road mind.

I fancy the straight cut gears are just too hard on the senses on the road, but Bob'5 knows all about that...remember the ppg kit used the stock 5th so nice and quiet.

If it was my money, i would use the 5 speed 754 case + helical gears + sysnchro for the road, Dog if competition biased.

Drove the straight cut before driving the helical PPG and the straight cut is very audible. Not crashingly loud (I actually felt I could live with it) but the other half couldnt handle the fact that people outside the car kept turning around to see what was coming. If you did want to pursue a straight cut for the road (and you werent pushing weight reduction), then you might try sound deadening materials (google 'Noisekiller') to tone things down.

Alternately (as mentioned already) the semi-helical is great and has nowhere near the same noise levels.

Since there is little difference in the strength of the gears (heli vs straight), it seems little sense in going straight-cut on a road going car.

Unless you like the noise

They vids only went up a few hours ago. Did you notice that the car was either wheelspinning away or bouncing when I did get more grip (knackered suspension)?

Am going to try and sort the suspension and plug the power leak before the last event of the season.
