Default Sti 8 Gear box

Hello can any body help.

I have got an Sti version 8 (euro spec)
Cars only done 30k

I am having problems with the syncro in 5th gear.
It only happens when on full power changing from 4th to 5th , does not happen ever time.

It does not happen when driving at normal conditions.

Who is it best to take it to get this sorted.

Thanks for your help.

You should have a three year warranty with that car right??
If so,take it to your local dealer and get them to resolve it! (They submit a warranty claim to IM who in turn forward to the country of origin who should then authorise the warranty claim and pass it back to IM who then inform the dealer - Long winded process but it does work)
I've owned my car since new in 2001 and it came from Belgium with full uk spec and my fourth gear syncro went nearly two years ago,it was replaced under warranty but although I pushed for a complete new gearbox they would only replace the damaged parts (3rd/4th gears and bent selector fork)
I have a feeling that if my car was a uk car then I would have had more of a chance of getting them to replace the complete gearbox...

Good luck

Mine is similar - started popping out of 5th gear. Neil Engineering have stripped it and it seems to be the selector fork bushes, means new selector forks.

However, I was drag racing with it on a heavily modified 2.5.

But they say the synchros are weak and have done a few six speeds now - often dealer work.

Does this apply to euro cars then, at what about my mods will they be ok with this.

Sorry to be a pain but should i just take it to a local dealer.

What modifications are we talking though?
My car was modified at the time and my dealer was fine with that (Nothing gearbox related had been modified with the exception of the Prodrive quickshift which the same dealer had fitted anyway and this wouldn't affect the warranty,I think the 'big' modification at the time for me was a full decat)
They got the gearbox sorted for me via a warranty claim. It also depends what sort of relationship you have with your dealer too as some of em can be arsey where modifications are concerned

What kind of costs are involved in sorting such a problem?

I've put it in the other thread, looks like about £1400 - 1500 inc VAT, labour, parts, with T-uk and me removing and refitting the gearbox ourselves.

FWIW I had the same problem on two 5 speeders. 3rd to 4th crunch. My fault as it started on a track day when I tried to rush the change every time. They don’t like it up ‘em as they say and a quickshift will just make it worse. Only happens on fast changes BTW.
