Default To exhaust wrap or not to wrap

Full decatting in the next couple of weeks so i'm replacing my up pipe, down pipe and centre cat pipe, question is do i get some exhaust wrap and do the lot? I will be refitting the turbo heat shield, but obviously will not be fitting the heatsheilds that are attached to the standard pipes.

How much wrap will i need, i was thinking about 50mm x 20m of cooltek from www.proven-products.co.uk would be enough. Should i paint/spray it with the high heat resistant paint afterwards?

The more you can do to reduce temps in the engine bay the better

The amount of wrap sounds about right, do the up pipe first then downpipe, if you have any left over do the centre pipe. I've never painted my wrap but I know others that have and it stops it soaking up water and steaming.

Dave.

I'm going to do mine this weekend too and have the same amount of exhaust wrap. I'm not painting it though. Apparently it will smoke and smell for a few days, but clears up quite quickly.

I can't wait to feel the gain in performance.

I bought the Cooltek from Proven Products but after measuring the thickness i'd go with the stuff from Think Auto which is around 3 times as thick and only a fraction more expensive.

Agriemach is hideously expensive, even with discount.

I haven't done mine yet Austen.
