Knocklink display location
I'm gonna be getting a knocklink fitted to my UK MY97 Scooby - the pre-face lift dash version.
Can anyone suggest a good location to fit the display? It's not exactly the most attractive piece of kit, and it obviously needs to be in an easily visible place. I'm thinking on top of the steering column, but fitting it neatly might be an issue.

The sticky pad supplied is not that sticky
I bought some adhesive velcro, heated the dash with a hairdry and used this to stick my KL on.
It also means its easily removed due to the velcro
You can see it through the steering wheel

A few ideas here:-

I'll be mounting mine above the tacho, hidden in the cowl.

I re-worked mine and put the LEDs on long wires, then drilled holes and fitted them into my A-pillar boost gauge pod, between the edge of the gauge and the pillar. The actual box is behind the dash. This avoids having the ugly Knocklink box on display either obscuring your instuments or blocking and air vent, and it gets the lights at a good height to catch your eye whilst driving. I've done the same thing to the Lambda link but mounted the LEDs in the bottom left corner of the binnacle, just below the temp gauge.

I mounted mine in a very easy, and yet easy-to-see and not too ugly way. Basically it's in the dash, underneath the speedo, with only the led's visible. Doing it like this meant that absolutely no modification was required to the knocklink apart from removing the case.
The down side is that the row of lights are lined up towards you (with greens at back and red at front) and this is not ideal to see how many greens/oranges light up.
It was easy though and is very easy to see while driving hard. I will send a picture but I don't have my car at the moment.

How about putting it in a A-pillar pod like this.

I've put mine in the cowl, directly in front of my eyes.......above the speedo (UK Car)....rev counter in the Sti's.
Wires were long enough and all I had to do was remove the cowl, open up the Knocklink, use the box as a drilling guide, drill correct sized holes in the cowl, push the LED's through the holes (nice neat fit) and leave the box off the Knocklink. Refitted the cowl and everything is lush!!
It's directly in my line of sight, but unobtrusive.
I actually damaged one of the LED's whilst removing the innards from the Knocklink box, as I'd used some glue for the previous mounting and it had stuck the LED in place. Not too worried, as it is the one before the big warning one, so if I get activity approaching that, I've already backed off!!

On the pre-facelift dash there is a ridge near the screen.
I've velcro'd my knocklink to this, along with afr and boost gauges.
This keeps everything nicely in the line of sight, although possibly looks a bit more DIY than some efforts!

Do you guys not need air then!
All seem to block off the air inlet vents, ( I would say from air con or climate cotrol ... but not all of you have it! ).
Mine sits on the lower part of the double din unit on the cente console...
