AFR with narrowband disconnected
Anyone know the effect of taking AFR readings with the stock NarroBand sensor disconnected and removed and placing a wideband sensor in it's place?
I know that at WOT and high loads the narrowband is ignored - so in these areas there's no probs. My concern is at partial throttle openings where the stock ecu will be trying to make calcs based on the narrowband readings I'll get abnormally rich mixtures making the whole process kinda pointless.
If this is the case then I'll just have to mount the widband along side the narrowband and go that route instead.Just be interested in any experiences anyone alse had had doing similar..
Cheers,

Unfortunately not - I'm using an LM-1 so not got that option AFAIK...

Just test and setup without running the narrowband. The ECU will then correct the mixtures for cruise/part throttle/idle to stoich when you use a narrowband again. Testing running open loop will give you an idea of how close the fuel map is for your fuel system and induction.

Cheers John - sounds like it is OK to do this afterall then - Is there acutally any point in installing the W/B separately at all apart from of couse checking the ECU is indeed correctly adjusting to stoich when on narrowband?

If your car is a GC8 MY99-00 then you can do that with no issue, the ecu may throw a cel but its a warning nothing more, I map all oem MY99-00's like that exactly, narrow band out and removed, wideband installed instead. MY99-00 ecu is very cute about its reaction under those circumstances.
