Smile Might be remapped Friday, what boost?

Hi,

I might be getting my car remapped Friday on rolling road
The car has had problems with not holding boost, high boost, boost creep.

I have now got 3 port solenoid and removed the splitter part in my APS downpipe.

I want to get as close to 400hp with as lower boost as possible. Still on standard engine internals. Dont want it to spike higher than 1.4bar max

Gems
550's
GruppeS
H+S 2 1/4 up pipe
APS 3.5" system
APS FMIC
K+N Filter, MAF removed
Walbro pump
SX Reg
TD05/06 20g

Do I get it mapped at 1.3 bar on rollers and this would therefore allow for that bit extra you would get on road. If mapped to hold 1.3 on RR how much higher would it go on road driving?

If it was mapped for 1.3 on rollers and on normal road 1.4, would it then hit an area of map that it is not set up for?

Should it be mapped to hold 1.4bar on RR and then adjusted down to 1.3 so that if it should go above this whilst on road it would be safe and still be set to make good power with good ignition advance etc.

I plan to buy the software and have a play with things in the future, if anything I have said above doesn't make sense, sorry, im still learning.

my td05/06 turbo is mapped at 1.4bar and it holds it from 4000rpm to just short of the redline but it also peaks at 1.6 bar so keeping it at a max of 1.4bar aint gonna be that easy when you want it to hold 1.4 bar, plus from going to various rolling roads i cant see it being very safe to your engine mapping that turbo to 1.3 bar on a rolling road but what do i know

It has to be mapped on the road (unless you really are just after good figures for the pub) otherwise it will not be representative, if its mapped properly on the road and the rolling road used is loaded properly then there is no reason why the same boost cannot be repeated, when I run my cars I try and get the load impedance of the rollers to reproduce the boost response I get on the road, then we are apples with apples. the big problem is cooling, you can never repeat the cooling conditions of driving when a car is static on the rollers however big the fan is. probelm is it can't be done the other way round.

Hi,

Tried mapping on the road last time it was done but I was catching up with other traffic so quickly and running out of road. Nice long bit needed :-)

What would be the best option then? Map it on rollers to a higher boost than planned and then a check on the road and adjust it down?
Would this ensure it is safe should boost go higher when driving on road?

Steve, what is your engine spec and mileage?

I realise that 1.4 is the good spot for that turbo, just worried about engine giving up :-)

Bob, do you feel that 1.4 bar is too high for my engine spec? (84000 miles)
What about 1.4 then dropping off after peak power point, surely there is no point in holding on to it after that?

Thanks

George

Thumbs up

Not sure if I should give it a go? It has held 1.8 bar to about 6500 when I was having boost problems :-) still seems ok (touching wood as I type this)

If it is set to hold 1.3 on rollers what will it be on road? 1.4/1.5?

Same place as first time mate, been done twice now both with problems but it turns out car wasn't right all along. Now with 3 port solenoid, downpipe splitter removed, new coil pack and ECU fault fixed maybee 3rd time lucky :-)

Map it to whatever you want on the rollers, then take it out on the road to fine tune boost. GForce rollers apply less load then what you will see out on the road.
