Question what sort of screwdriver do i need to take off my MAF?

it looks like a torx head, but it's got a pin in the middle and any torx bits i've got are solid.

is this a special sort? if so does anyone know where i can get one from?

cheers

Sounds like a security bolt to me and the security torx bits are available from Halfrauds or B&Q somewhere like that

yeah, i think i know what you mean, don't know if they're the same but i think a trip to halfords might turn up something.

wasn't sure if what i need is some 'dealer only' attachment?

Nah, normal torx screwdriver bits, make sure you get the ones with a hole in the centre as there's a pin in the middle of it.

are these special ones though mate, the only ones i've got (or found at the mo) are solid with no hole in

guessing any hardware shop will stock these or are they an automotive thing?

I think so, all the ones I have have holes in, and they were only cheap.

It is quite easy to 'bust' the pin out of the centre using a small screwdriver.

edited to add;

Or file a V into a small flatbladed screwdriver that fits nicely in there.
