Flashing CEL - any ideas why?

Flashing CEL - any ideas why?
De-cat downpipe and centre section with Scooby Sport box on MY02 WRX. Goes great but the CEL has started flashing occasionally after a bit of a spirited drive. The CEL is always on but the flashing is new, funny thing is that it cleared once slowed down and driving smoothly at 30 in a 30 zone.
Should I be heading down to the garage? Bit worried about this.
Any help/ideas gratefully received!

Think it means you have a problem.
Some sensor is failing or showing a problem.
Did you get the CEL fix when you had the decat fitted? If not that's why the CEL light is on, and the new flashing is showing something else is wrong.
Do a ECU reset and count the pulses ( as described elsewhere on here and other places ) to see if it gives a fail error code.
Failing that, try the local friendly dealer who will use the select monitor to read the errors codes.

Flashing CEL means a warning limit has been exceeded usually mass air flow limit. be worth getting a select monitor check done to verify. there are several alarms that can come up including mass airflow and boost.

Evening bob
Solid CEL on a de-cat is usually code P0420, CAT efficency poor (not surprising as it's not there). As suggested ask a friendly dealer to plug in a select monitor, even if the CEL is off at the time the ECU stores old codes. Stan Palmers helped me out a few times for free.
Reason for post is about the remaining cat in the up-pipe on Bugeye's ....there are some horror stories about the up pipe cat melting and lunching the turbo. I'm not sure if these are just horror stories (ITG opanel filter??) or real. Maybe bob could help here ??

The ITG filter is coated with a waxy / grease not a thin oil, and doesn't seem to spread much.
In 3 years I have seen only a very small amount of oily residue in the bottom of the air box, and none in the inlet pipes.
That's on a MY94 WRX though, not sure how it affects later models.
Overall, not been upset by the ITG panel filter.

Hmmm. Think I'd better go and have the guys look at it pronto!
I had a flashing CEL ages ago (just with decat downpipe then) but it stayed on, this one comes on for rapid driving then back off again.
- Midlife - Should I get rid of the up-pipe too?
Thanks for the help everyone!
Mike
Edited to add that the previous flashing light was down to a misfire and that I've not yet managed to get the CEL fix.

Grr. Dealer told me not to bother bringing it in, "it'll just be the CEL showing the cat's aren't there".
Any suggestions for helpful Scoob specialists around Oxfordshire or 50 miles around?

Sorry - this looks like I'm posting messages to myself here!
I've yet to find a Scoob dealer to check out my CEL situation but the wierdest thing happened today, it's cleared itself and the CEL has gone out for the first time ever. I checked that the bulb hadn't blown! I think that I hve had a couple of misfires so suspect that something really wierd is going on.
Anyway, the point of this ramble is to ask if anyone knows a good specialist in the South East/Home Counties?
Cheers!
