Lightbulb anyone else experience this..?

Greetings Scoobynuts

Have just picked up a new WRX and it seems to have the same "problem" if that's the right word for it, as my last one...

Decellerating from 70 to 60mph, there is a slight whining noise from the engine (I think.) I mentioned it to my local Subaru dealer when I had my last one and they said they could find nothing untowards but lo and behold, it's happening again in the new one

Plus, the old one emitted a mahoosive whining noise at 100mph +, didn't sound like the engine, more like air/wind noise. On Friday I had a chance to open up the new car and it did exactly the same, albeit at 130mph +

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers from Paul

window rubbers mate,

Mine used to do it at 90+, but now they have bedding in a bit and no longer hum.

It's a common thing with pillarless doors.

Sorry

It's a common thing with Subaru pillarless doors!!

deceleration noise - is it like a 'moaning' noise - if so see www.sidc.co.uk FAQ as I experienced that and got the answer there.

I've a whine at about 62mph (my03 WRX), I've had the rear diff changed twice now, it came back after 3000 mile the first time. Touch wood it seems to be fixed this time.

The moaning /whineing noise is quite common for scooby drivers ...although its usualy cured by kicking the wife/girlfriend out of the door.

Do you not find that kicking the wife/girlfriend out of the door usually makes a mess down the side of the back door where the nails dig-in? LOL

hi paul
this may sound odd but you could find this is wind blowing on youre vin plate under the bonnet making it vibrate like a reed and humming cos mine does it every now and again
