Question Sparkplug recommendations?

Hi,
Car is UK MY00

MD305
FMIC
OBX headers
uprated fuelling
Link ECU (mapped by Pat)
Full decat
knocklink

running over 300bhp/300lbft

The car is rough as a bag of nails when the car is cold, quite frequent misfires until its all warmed up.
Knocklink flashes up the odd bit of det also when cold.. very rare when its warmed up (oil temp to 175 ish)

I'm aware the cold start ability of the link isnt the best to start with, BUT wondering if I could do with higher rated plugs?
Pretty sure Im on standard rating plugs at the moment.

Any suggestions as I have the 60K service on friday at the clinic, and I know they do various plug options...

Cheers fellas.

yup. unless you have changed it recently?

just didnt want to hamper my car by using 6's without realising etc.. or worse- go the other way and go OTT on higher rated ones (8's)

did you sort out the Hiper in the end?

simon- will mail you later mate.. got a few questions..

there is nothing wrong with version 5 ecu cold start, sounds as though it far too lean when cold, get pat to check it out and increase the cold enrichment setting.

right o bob

what I meant was: compared to the OE ECU which had millions spent on it, that the Link was not quite as competent on cold start routines.
Everyone (inlcuding you) has repeated this to me in the past.. thats all

Relax Bob, not attacking the link at all.. good bit of kit for the price

I think the map got a bit stuffed when I (well Pavlo fixed it) fixed the leaking injector..
Fault was that the map was done while that was leaking under high pressure.. we didnt know it was leaking of course at the time..
(It got progressively worse over a short period of time, from the body of the plastic moulding itself then Paul fixed it, but obviously the map has been upset for some time..
Altho- I think if it ran any richer on cold, my tree in my front garden might die
It's funny tho, as narrowband AFR shows lean, yet fuel is piling out of the rear.. ????
and it smells VERY rich (big sooty patch on driveway) ?

map is going to be looked at in detail before the 31st

how old are the plugs?

new plugs might make the world of difference. PFR7B should be fine for your application

not that old, but the spec' of the car has changed quite dramatically since they were done on the last big service..

I think I will look into 7's
