Question

Perhaps this should go in the electrical section? Has anyone fitted a shift light themselves, and if so, how easy is it? Because the Scoob engine does not get all thrashy and howling as you approach the red, its easy to not realise the revs you`re pulling when overtaking on occasions!
Any fitting hints or instructions would be most welcome.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated.
Like you, I could probably make up a little board with a remote LED to do the job, but for 50 odd quid a sequencial unit seems the jobbie!
Did you order direct or is there somewhere to get it over the counter? I have Burton Engineering just down the road but the sequencial ones they sell are much dearer.
It would be good to know the terminal or wiring colour code.

John,

I was given an Omex sequential shift light for my MY00. Fitting was no problem but I didn't know which was the wire carrying the tacho signal to the instrument panel so instead I ran the two wires through to the coil pack and set up the unit to match. The Omex unit is very easy to adjust switch points for the four LED's. It took just under an hour to install everything neatly.

I'll dig out the terminal number tonight and the wire colour ( if I get back from work that is!)

I ordered direct over the phone - got it next day ;-)

The Omex ones are available locally to me (Burton Engineering) but the sequencial version is fairly expensive (for something that won`t light up very often sm/winker.gif[img]

That info would be welcome.

PS Where did you guys mount the unit so it would be in your sight-line?

John,

Yes the Omex unit is pricey but it was a gift so I was lucky there, in its favour it is very easy to set up for the trigger points though.

I have the display unit (which is approx 3cm x 1cm) mounted on the bottom edge of the surround of the instrument panel so that it is visible through the steering wheel. The control unit is mounted on the side of the centre consule with the wires passing up behind the dashboard, I'll try to get some pictures by the weekend to give you some idea.

John,
I'm having some problems posting the pictures so I'll email them to you.
