Borg & Beck clutch for classic turbo
I did post this a couple of weeks ago but as the search function on Scoobynet isn't working at the moment. Where can I get a price for one of these beauties?
Thanks in advance

Don't suppose you know what part number I need. I've just looked at the website and can't see a part for a MY00 turbo listed? They only seem to list years up to 1997.

Not sure mate. But I think they cost the same. Just give them a call as I didnt even looked at their website and just dialed the number to enquire out of laziness.

I called them earlier this week as their online ordering only lists Valeo clutch kits for non-turbo Imprezas.
They do still do the Delphi Borg & Beck kit for the Turbo, they are £96 + Delivery and Vat, comes to around £125.
I have the part number at home, I can post it up later, but just give them a ring.

cheap clutches do seem hit or miss.
I can't see rebuilt items being as consistent as a new clutch. I have always liked the blue print parts but even they come in at £220-250+VAT.

glad to hear yours is holding but you might not be as lucky next time, with your new power levels. the cheaper clutch kits are okay on standard(ish) cars but I do not think it's worth expecting them to hold higher levels.
it would be great to think that these cheap clutches are upto the job but IMO you pay for what you get. cheap NUL petrol may work but it is not as good as SUL/optimax,same with cheap oils, they may work to a point

jgm,
it is just recently that you have banged the power/torque up,isn't it?
I totally agree that for standard type cars the delphi-b&b is enough and have fitted 1/2 a dozen to back this up but with my own car for example, the standard clutch held fine at approx 265/260 for over 12000miles inc track but no standing starts. I then modded (TD05FE,fmic etc) and had the boost mapped for 1.5bar mid range. it soon became clear(less than 500miles) that the clutch could not hold this, so cut the boost back to 1.3bar ish mid range and it has been fine ever since. john banks standard clutch had done more than double my mileage but could hold more mid range but his had not had the track work of mine.
the standard clutch is still in my car and is yet to slip at the lower boost level. I was very tempted to fit a b&b but because my clutch is still holding ,it cannot have been that bad, just stretched too much at the higher levels. I bit the bullit and have an AP to fit when I can be bothered or the standard fails.
there is a rolling road day at star this weekend which I could put the car on at this lower level as a rough guide. it has also since lost a few degrees of timing as I found the optimax very variable this winter.I guess it will be anywhere between 300-315bhp at the moment.

I think you pay for what you get - the b+b clutch is cheap by all standards and I heard it is a refurbished clutch (can pass as new if 60% or more new parts). I have fitted one and had trouble with pedal vibration since fitting to my MY95WRX wagon and it is coming back off next week!

I assumed the same mal26 but from the link above,
was the flywheel skimmed on yours. all the cars I have fitted them to have not had flywheels skimmed, as it was getting done as cheap as possible(back street garage) but there was one that was hellish, the customer was told it really needed done but chose not to. even a year later when I drove the car again it felt rough.
Borg & Beck Clutch Kits in stock ! We keep the full range of these quality 100% brand new clutch kits. All kits come with a 3 year national guarantee.

The other thing I discovered is if you call Delphi who make the B+B clutch kit, they do not recommend fitting the clutch to imports and will not cover the warranty. I also emailed autospares with my car details and they suggested an ADL blueprint clutch and not B+B. Unfortunately I bought the B+B clutch kit from someone else!

T-Uk,
Car was running scoobyecu, HKS induction kit and full decat not put it on an RR so guessing 260 and standard was slipping.. but when removed there was nothing left on it.. down to studs.. B&B has not slipped at all and I did 5runs at strip with it in that spec.. not got fmic, 550s, uprated pump, fpr, link ecu mapped by Pat but only running 1bar at the moment due to a miss fire which I think I just solved this afternoon.. swapping coil packs about and regapping plugs and then had to sort map as there was a lean area due to the miss causing unburnt fuel when we were out mapping it previous.. hopefully sorted now.. but only intending running 1.2bar.. ignition at the minute is at 19º.
Who knows if it will hold or not.. It has juddered when I have been towing with it.. lol
but then pulling a 500kg trailer and beating cars off lights is bound to take a bounding..
I did not skim the flywheel which had 124,000miles on it at the time.. I am about to click over to 144,000miles now..

well chuffed
yesterdays result was a nice surprise. cutting the mid range boost from 1.5bar has dropped the mid range torque to help the clutch, but I thought the ignition I had lost , would have had a larger affect. the boost over 6k has not really been dropped by the look of it as iirc it was 1.2-1.25 bar before. the bhp is what I thought the car would have had on star's rollers with the stronger map.loosing the torque in the mid made me think the power higher up had dropped too.
gave the car a good thrash on saturday to make sure it was worthwhile throwing the car on the rollers and the standard clutch held fine
overall well chuffed but looking forward to fitting the AP at some point and upping the boost to see if the torque curves flattens out.

I was going to ask the same question do you need to fit an uprated release bearing when changing to an ap clutch on a modded car? [TD05 fmic etc..] or will a standard one do the job.

hi guys sorry to hijack the thread but need some advice here i have just done my clutch on my96 classic impreza turbo i put an ap racing cluch in it the flywheel is lightened and balanced, the one that came out was a borg and beck d01517 b20h11 the garage that done the job last time took an sti racing clutch out it and said they could not fit an ordinary clutch it has to be another racing clutch and charged me accordingly, so my question is the borg and beck clutch they fitted is it a racing clutch does not look like one and it did not last long in the car.
