How much is it to change the head gasket?

HELP !! How much do you think it costs to change the head gasket on a MY96 STi?
My car keeps overheating.....I know that I had a slight problem with the rad, so I changed that.........But it is still overheating. I have had a friend, who used to work for Subaru, have a look at my car and has diagnosed that it could well be the head gasket...........
Just to give me an idea, does anyone have any idea, approx, how much this would cost?
