Question Advice needed on supporting mods for Tek3 remap

Now i have stumped up the extra insurance money for the extra power i have started to mod a few bit's and pieces.
The spec so far is:
MY99 UK Turbo
Full Scoobysports Decat (Hayward and Scott Style, downpipe wrapped)
Knocklink (With custom LED display repeater)
SECS 1003 Pod mount data display
Pagid 8 groove front disks
Pagid RS421 front pads
Whiteline solid drop links front and rear
Engine Oil Castrol RS 10-60
Transmission Oil Castrol Syntrax
NGK PFR6B Plugs

Other mods soon:
STI Panel Filter
Oil Temp&Pressure Senders for SECS

I want to go as far as possible with the current turbo TD04 and don't want to go to all the hassle / expense of a FMIC, are there any supporting mods that people would reccomend to go with this list (Mainly in the engine department) to maximise the impact of the Tek3 remap.

Some i had thought of were:
STI Intercooler V5 / V7?
Porting Standard exhaust Headers?
Uprated Turbo hoses (Samco)

If anybody has got any veiws on the effectiveness of these mods or has seen anything i have missed out on, your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I basically want to get this right first time so not having to have the car mapped again 6 months down the line. Target is 280 - 300 BHP is this realistic?

Dan.

Oh, can't wait for the search function to be back online cos i think i will be needing it a bit soon!

Depends how you measure the output (ie; which rolling road ), but I'd suggest no more than 280-290 hp is possible on the stock turbo. However, this still provides for a very good road weapon

I think powerstation is the nearest rolling road to me, so from what i have heard about their rollers is going to be bloody difficult to get that figure on there.

I suppose what i really need to know is, will playing with different TMIC's and porting exhaust headers be as good as pissing into the wind whilst i still have a TD04? Is it actually worth it? Or will they give me noticeable gains over standard?
I can't really go down the TD05 route yet as the insurance is scary enough at the moment without telling them that i have a bigger turbo!

i've got a MY00 uk and have put a v5 i/c on it. although the sti one is virtually the same as the uk accept its black and no "STI" sticker, the sti has better "y" pipe underneath but it was at the wrong angle for my standard turbo, so i'm running the samco i had on the standard i/c. asthetics only IMHO

Dan, same car as yours. I've got a TD04L Hyprid from, Mark at Lateral Pefrormace. It acts just like the OEM TD04, but it pulls harder and longer at the top. Exchange unit £500. I mated this with a full decat exhaust and ITG panel filter, and it went like the clappers with a Tek3 remap. Probably around 280bhp and real poke kicking in at just under 3,000rpm.

I'm now around 310bhp after fitting a big top-mount intercooler and tubular headers. They sound ****, but they make it go And I had antother Tek 3 re-map to make sure everything was tickety-boo.

I now think my car is as fast as it's going to get as a daily driver, without going internal, FMIC and all the other stuf that take ages to do and cost thousands of £££. But boIIox to logic. Next move is to fit a USDM 2.5 block and pistons. This is defo the way to go, except the big torque will wreck the box. Hhmmm

Richad.

PS If you just want to slap on extra power, fit a TD04L and a Tec3. The car is very fast, but docile and easy to drive at all times.

Dan
Uprated Intercooler hoses are a must - the standard ones are paper thin.
The Sti5/6 intercooler is actually slightly bigger - it has a bigger plenum.
A fuel pump might be a good safety mod.

Thanks for the replys, keep the info coming.
Has anybody got any quatative results with porting the existing headers, as i don't fancy shelling out the xtra cash for a new pair and loosing the scooby burble. Plus this would be a nice invisible mod if it works
Have already lost one arm and leg to the insurance company, don't fancy loosing any more!

As already suggested...
Better TMIC.
Porting the headers (if you can be arsed!)
Samcos.
Fuel pump.

Also consider...
3 port boost solenoid.
NGK PFR7Bs.
Fuel pressure regulator.

Has anyone got some insturctions or pics of what you are supposed to do, to port the standard exhaust headers.
I thought i saw some months ago in someones thread but can't have a look for them at the mo with the current state of SN.
