STi V4 - say 280bhp on optimax + millers - what kind of power gains can be got from the full decat & suitable backbox?
Also have you got power plots / graphs to show any stats?
Cheers

I think if you look on the dyno scoobies link at the top of the page you should be able to find comparable charts.
I don't believe that the power gains themselves are huge, approx 30bhp at the most. But drivability is increased immensly (though so is noise . Where your scoob feels quite gutless below 3,000 rpm at the mo, when decatted that feeling goes and gives a much smoother power delivery from no revs through when the turbo kicks in.

Cheers, have checked out a few graphs so far but fancied sticking a post up to find out more.
Standard 93' WRX making 280bhp with simple exhaust changes etc - interesting stats - point taken about torque & driving feel.

It is difficult to put in words. Mine's a standard MY00 Turbo but fully decatted. I have since driven a much more powerful MY99 Type R STi that had cats and below the 3,000 rpm mark it felt totally gutless, which is exactly how mine felt before the decat.
I would always decat a scoob when I ever I get one with them on.

How wierd, jinx!!!
Yup, but the Type R is a Jap import and more powerful than our uk counterparts. They're geared lower too. They'll sprint to 60 in the low 4 second mark.
I'm just about to lay my hands on a Type RA, and I'm counting the minutes

Having been toying with the idea myself....
MY00 has PPP so does that include a de-cat???
If not I assume at the mo its pushing about 240 so decat would take that up another 25-30bhp???
Also would I need anything aditional maybe boost controller??
Cheers Ashley

Happy that decating is not going to return huge gains as it has been mentioned it changes the torque & power delivery. Ok... Ok... If I get a louder exhaust note thats no bad thing either ... lol

When I bought my STi V M99 wagon, it had been dynoed at 286 BHP at Power Eng. It was totally standard. I've now placed a full decat exhaust system on it (downpipe, mid and back sections). Not sure what the power/torque figures are now, but I know its louder and spins up faster
